The new 87,000 SF Jaguar Suites Residence Hall at University of Houston’s Victoria campus is the first ground up residence hall built for this component institution of 4,000 students. It has the capacity to house all sophomore students. Jaguar Hall, an existing converted hotel, is directly to the east and currently houses freshman and a dining hall.
This three-level structure includes 216 beds in fifty-four 4-bedroom 2-bath suites residential student housing facility, with new secured surface parking lot for over 250 cars. In addition, a 5,000 SF community learning and support facility is located along the main north entry and includes a fitness room, a multipurpose room, two large class- rooms, and a student lounge and areas for study room and a computer lab work.
The layout of the new housing facility is built to enhance and protect the pedestrian experience. Walkways connecting Jaguar Hall, Jaguar Suites and the parking lot are designed to separate students walking around the campus from vehicles. A large courtyard in the center of Jaguar Suites will serves as outdoor recreational space with a pool and volleyball courts. The exterior of the facility was carefully designed to blend into the small town of Victoria aesthetic.
