Port Arthur ISD Woodrow Wilson Early College High School is dedicated to the education of student’s in the performing and visual arts. The campus area and program serve 600 K-16 students including facilities for post graduate courses correlating an academic program with concentrated training in the arts, along with programs in art, dance, instrumental music, theater, vocal music, and technology.
The 74-year-old,1925 junior high schools underwent a complete makeover. The 81,890 SQFT location had several areas of renovation, the entrance lobby interior renovation constitutes high end finishes with historical coffered rosette ceilings, new ceiling fixtures and wall sconces. New granite floors replaced old floors. New paint, wallcovering and historical coffered metal tiles upgrade the lobby’s interior walls. Additional interior finishes consisted of new doors and upgraded concession stand, ticket booth and restrooms. Corridors throughout the ground floor were refurbished with paint and wallcoverings, new flooring, and ceiling finishes and new lighting including historical pendants. The first-floor corridor leading to the auditorium received new coffered ceiling and new pendant fixtures.
The auditorium was completely refurbished with the design remaining within the art deco theme. New theater seats, lighting, and car- pet enhance the auditorium’s new sound and stage renovation. The exterior was extensively renovated with new roof and dome, new bricks, windows, doors and other exterior finishes. Landscaping, new exterior lighting and a new parking area.
