The Emerging Technologies Building is the first major building to define the A&M Engineering quadrangle. The facility supports university engineering and allied teaching and research programs for the highly successful Dwight Look College of Engineering which includes Biomedical Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Computational Science & Visualization and the Institute for Coastal & Deepwater Offshore Systems. The building program includes 240,000 square feet (22,390 square meters) with offices, classrooms, faculty research labs, computer-based teaching classrooms, and a computer server room, and a computational science and visualization area. The new building provides an environment that cultivates emerging research through flexible, sustainable, and innovative strategies.
Each lab space is fully adaptable with the ability to be reconfigured for new equipment and additional utilities as the specific research expand and the technology of equipment improves. The Demonstration Lab can be used for a traditional classroom, a large demonstration space for students, and an area for special events and gatherings. Six 3D visualization projectors allow student work and faculty research to be displayed during public presentations and industry marketing events. This space is critical to showcase ideas to possible market industry partners for financial support and research grant funding.
