Frito-Lay Southwest Houston Distribution Center
Completed: May 2001
Size: 70,000 sq ft
Scope:
Frito-Lay’s new $5 million distribution center will serve as the regional office for the southwestern United States. Part office and part warehouse, the facility stands at over 70,000 SF, which includes a two bay service garage for delivery vehicles. The project also includes a retainage pond and 135 parking spaces for vans and trucks. The warehouse is a pre-engineered building system with a metal roof and 36 overhead dock doors at various heights and widths. Frito-Lay’s complex system of material handling equipment will stand as tall as 20 ft. in the warehouse.
The office portion of the facility includes administrative areas, a check in room, break room, and a conference room that can be divided into three separate rooms. Interior design of the office follows closely to Frito Lay’s standards that have been developed over the years.
The project was built utilizing the design build project delivery and was designed and constructed in 18 months.
